Oops!We almost never tow our dinghy, and we're always careful to tie it up short when underway, or when we may have to move unexpectedly (such as, when in a marginal anchorage). It's not a bad idea to use a floating painter, either, to prevent the line from getting tangled up with your propeller. This can be an expensive experience.
