February, 2005: Whangaroa Harbour, North Island, New Zealand. It seems that almost no cruisers come to this beautiful and perfectly sheltered anchorage. We ran up the west coast from Nelson, on the South Island, and were enchanted to find this little piece of Paradise. The rock formations are very reminiscent of high islands in the tropical Pacific, the water is warm, and there are yellowfin tuna and marlin lurking only a couple of miles offshore. What could be better? |
