REDRED is a boat that people remember...Her name, her color, her beauty, her functionality. Once you've seen RED you'll never forget her. RED is one of a kind...RED was custom designed and professionally built by Waterline Yachts of Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. I did most of the systems (under Waterline's supervision) and quite a bit of the finish woodwork. When I was finished Ed said I could have a job there if I wanted, so I guess my work was acceptable! RED was launched in May, 1997. RED made dreams come true...We brought RED home to Juneau, Alaska that summer via a leisurely, trouble-free, 1,000 mile shakedown cruise through the waters of British Columbia and Southeast Alaska. We lived aboard RED and cruised her in Southeast Alaska for a couple of years before we pointed her south in 2000. Since then, RED has logged over 22,000 miles and revisited most of the places we explored during our first Pacific cruise (1989-1992) on Achates, as well as many other places that were new to us. We've had some great times, made many new friends, had a few adventures, and have come to truly appreciate this superb vessel that Waterline created for us. November, 2005: About 5 miles south of Savusavu, Fiji. We're waiting for our mail to arrive and then we'll be off to Tarawa, Kiribati, about 1,000 miles to the north. The snorkeling was pretty nice here. |
